The local government has officially committed to the full redevelopment plan for our recreational space. This result confirms that our shared vision for a more inclusive environment has real value to those who plan our neighborhood. I intend to monitor the project closely as the construction phase begins to ensure …

Hi everyone, we are a group that are seeking local government action to upgrade the recreational space in Melba, next to the Melba High School so that it becomes a safe, educational, inclusive and fun space for children, parents and community groups.

It is difficult to believe that the land we are proposing for upgrade was once a recreational space. If you look at the site now it is a run down area which has had no attention for over 10 years and is in need of a revamp. Melba is growing and is home to many young families but the playgrounds are small, non inclusive, most don't have shade, have no parking and are outdated.

We are proposing:

- An inclusive nature-based playground with sunshade and rain shelter
- Seating, tables & drinking fountains
- Toilet block upgrade/maintenance
- Carpark
- Upgrade basketball courts to multi-sport courts
- Learn to ride space for young children

If you agree with the above kindly sign the petition to show your support.

That space looks unsafe for the kids walking to the high school. A dedicated, well kept area would be much safer.

This is a genuine community proposal and the ACT Government needs to show that it's genuine about listening to this community and fix up its recreation space.

I grew up in Melba and now live in Evatt but spend time in and around Melba. Its high time that there were some upgrades and new facilities for older existing suburbs rather than having to drive kilometres to new suburbs to use their new and amazing play areas.

I’d love to see this area become a loved, used inclusive space for all ages! There’s hardly any new playgrounds in evatt or Melba, they’re old and not very versatile. My toddler can use most of them because they’re not built for little ones but school aged kids only. A nature playground would be excellent! let’s incorporate a community garden in addition to bring the community together, Maybe the school could be included as stewards of it for ag?

An inclusive mixed-used recreational park is the perfect use for the currently neglected space. This community of northern Belconnen is calling for a safe and inviting local space where they can enjoy taking their kids too.

I grew up in Melba and my children are quite often at my Dad's house. Dad continues to live on Melba. Having a park like this so close to his home would be great.
