Our children deserve a safe, modern outdoor space where they can run, grow, compete, and just be kids.
We are calling for our Smyser Community, Parents and Staff to provide signatures of support for a new turf field with a track and a safe, inclusive playground for our students and community.
Right now, our outdoor facilities limit opportunities for physical activity, school programs, and community use. Uneven surfaces and aging equipment create safety concerns and restrict access. Meanwhile, our children need movement, fresh air, teamwork, and connection more than ever.
A new turf field and track would provide:
- A safer surface for sports and physical education
- Year-round usability
- Space for school events and community activities
A new playground would provide:
- Safe, modern equipment
- Inclusive play for children of all abilities
- A welcoming space for families to gather
This isn’t just about sports.
It’s about health.
It’s about safety.
It’s about giving our kids the environment they deserve.

Yes. I’ve been an engineer at Smyser and can attest to uneven surfaces throughout. And don’t for the dog droppings. Best of luck for a new yard.
I went here and had to run in muddy fields when doing outdoor pt. This is long overdue as a class of 99 alumni.
The slide was shut down for an extended period of time due to being broken, the turf is coming apart, our kids deserve better.
My daughter fell on the uneven playground and her whole nail fell off. My son can play soccer with all his classmates on the turf.
This project would go a long way helping students become more involved in track and field . There is already a growing interest in students wanting to participate in after school athletics.

I have been a resident here for 30 years. And many have come before me, my grandchildren. Go here. The youngest will go to eighth grade, and I am sure we will not see it in her lifetime, but smizer deserves to be a state-of-the-art school either by building a new school or a complete updated school playground and field for our children's future.
