They actually listened and we get to keep our name as Alta Vista Charter High School instead of that other thing. I still cannot believe we managed to pull this off but the official word is in and we won. Now maybe we can finally focus on getting those better …

HELP US STAY AVHS!
GCI has decided that they no longer want us to be called Alta Vista Charter High School, but instead be called Guadalupe Centers High School. The ring of that sounds atrocious, right? We the student body and families refuse to be labeled as GCHS! Vote no for GCHS and yes for AVHS! (Also better lunches and a new wall color!)

I really did not think people would be this loud about a name change but wow clearly I was wrong and it feels like we might actually have a shot at keeping our identity. Maybe they will finally listen to us about the paint and the cafeteria food too because honestly those walls are depressing.

I am an alumni at AV and would like other students to be an alumni of AV not a new name that many students & institutions wouldn't recognize! #AltaVistaForever
I am a proud AV graduate, a proud Aztec. Alta Vista isn't just a name, it's a symbol. NO TO GCHS... AV pride..
As a proud alumni of the Alta Vista high school. The name of my alma mater should not be changed. The history of that school and its name stands strong with the community and its students past and present!
It is really a travesty that these students, many of whom have grown up in the Alta Vista system, were given no voice in the matter by their district leadership.
The name AV is apart of our history now; it's how all of this started. It's as if we're being branded by GCI. Plus the name is ugly. We should have a voice in the decisions that affect our school.
I agree AVHS sounds better than GCHS
Aye shoutout to my homie Nate for whopping that fat dude at 9st cause they was on the fufu stuff . I know i lost but i won in my heart

The name Alta Vista High School is known because of our sports. We have built this name up and it has so much history behind it. We as students are the one who represent it, not only because we attend the school, but because we wear the apparel. So our voices are the most important than any administrators who think otherwise.
