Hello Alumni!
It has been brought to the Mass Alumni Association of several changes and upgrades being made to Savannah High School. We are excited that our Alma Mater is being elevated in terms of academic recognition! However, we are not happy or in agreement with the proposed name change. Because of the changes, the school's administration would like to hold a meeting with as many alumnus to further discuss this information. We have heard from quite a few of you on this matter, which led us to believe that it's important and you are concerned! The majority feel the name change is great, as long as the school's name remain first, in front of the purposed name Career Center East at Savannah High School. Now is the time to stand with us. The meeting will be held Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at 6pm in Savannah High School's auditorium. Let's stand for something Bluejackets or we will fall for anything!!!!

I am against the name change unless Savannah High is first in the name. There are so many memories for Alumni's. There can be Career Center noted and established in the school without changing the name in the community.
I am a proud Savannah High Alumni. So are my mother and my grandmother. I love the preservation of a school I still love but changing the name is not acceptable. It's historical and should remain SHS. We pride ourselves on preserving history in Savannah, preserve our Alma Mater!
If changing the name of Savannah High is that important then rename all other high schools as well. Savannah High is a Historical school being that it was an all white school and to be desegregated. That is a part of history that shouldn't be renamed
The name has to stay. I went to SHS, my parents, their cousins, my children, my children"s aunts and uncles. The history of the school is part of Savannah. Just like BC, Jenkins. This is crazy to change the name.
To change the name of Savannah High School is like changing the name of the University of Georgia. My beloved SHS has a rich tradition and legacy to so many....it's my identity! I have several degrees but my SHS is one I'm most fond and connected to those who attended.

I am a 1979 graduate of Savannah High School. I see no reason to change the name. I am proud of my time at SHS, the name means something to me and many others. It is our history, and inexorably linked to the city of Savannah. Keep the current name.
