Dear Parents and Educators of Washington Township,

****WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT****

It has come to our attention that the Board of Education is trying to spread our Kindergarten classes among the various elementary schools and the fate of our preschool is left undertermined. This comes with total disregard to the research which supports early childhood centers for the long term academic success of our students.

If you support the Early Childhood Model of keeping our children ages 3-6 under one roof please sign this petition. It is not about keeping a building open, it is about building a foundation for our young learners that is both developmentally and physically appropriate for them to thrive.

"It is absolutely reasonable to expect that kindergarten is about playful learning and learningful play, and about academic socialization and social academics" (Gullo 2006).

Seeing this kind of energy for our school has me feeling overwhelmed because I know exactly how much our children need this specialized environment to thrive. It is clear now that the community understands this is about far more than just a building.

Such a wonderfol school with a loving and caring staff that are so devoted to teaching our young children and the most impressiionable age. The soecial needs prigram and pre school program are beyond compare. I have a special needs daughter who started go there at three years old, She was barely verbal when she first started. She got the best education, the best therapies and so much love at Geenloch. It would be such a shame for other families to not have the experience we had had this top notch school!

If Kindergarten is integrated into each elementary school, it will be more difficult to include special ed students into regular ed classes.

I'm a lifelong TWP resident who went to Grenloch for preschool, kindergarten and 1st grade. I would hat to see the school change its format. The little kids do so well at Grenloch with kids their age. I think they are too young to go to school with the older grades.

It would be such a loss to close GTECC. Having working it Grenloch as a Speech/Language Specialist I have seen first hand the quality of instruction and collaborative spirit that is a part of an Early Chilhood Campus.

My son spent almost four years in GTECC. I loved his days there, and so did he. The move to Whitman has been very difficult on him. We both miss the atention and love he got from Grenloch. We miss that school so much.

As a parent, taxpayer, Twp. Resident and teacher I am strongly opposed to spreading kindergarten students among the township's elementary schools. Grenloch Terrace is a developmentally appropriate setting for our preschool and kindergarten population. Additionally, this model allows for necessary teacher collaboration. As a teacher in a nearby district
