Decision Makers: Warren Township Board of Education

To the Warren Township Board of Education, District Administration, and Community Stakeholders:

We, the undersigned residents, parents, guardians, taxpayers, educators, and community members of Warren Township, respectfully urge the Warren Township School District to preserve its current educational structure:

  • Kindergarten through 5th Grade in neighborhood elementary schools
  • Four elementary schools serving Warren Township students
  • The existing school configuration that has successfully supported students and families for many years

We believe the current model provides significant educational, social, and community benefits that should be protected.

Reasons for Preserving the Current Structure

1. Strong Neighborhood School Communities
The four-school model fosters close-knit school communities where students, families, teachers, and staff build meaningful relationships. Neighborhood schools strengthen community engagement and create a sense of belonging for children and families.

2. Age-Appropriate Learning Environments
Elementary schools serving grades K–5 provide developmentally appropriate environments tailored to younger learners. Maintaining this structure ensures students receive support designed specifically for their academic, social, and emotional growth.

3. Smaller School Populations
Four elementary schools help distribute enrollment, allowing for more manageable class sizes, greater individual attention, and stronger connections between students and educators.

4. Reduced Student Disruption
Changing grade configurations or consolidating schools would require significant transitions for students and families. Preserving the current model minimizes disruption and maintains educational continuity.

5. Community Identity
High-quality neighborhood schools are a cornerstone of Warren Township's identity and attractiveness to families. Maintaining the existing structure helps sustain the strong reputation of our school district and community.

6. Family Convenience and Accessibility
Neighborhood elementary schools often reduce transportation times and allow families to remain closely connected to their local school community.

Our Request

We respectfully request that the Warren Township Board of Education:

  1. Maintain the current K–5 elementary school model
  2. Preserve all four elementary schools within the district.
  3. Conduct transparent community engagement before considering any changes to grade configurations or school consolidation.
  4. Prioritize the educational and community benefits of neighborhood elementary schools in future planning decisions.

Statement of Support

By signing this petition, I support preserving Warren Township's current elementary school structure and urge district leaders to keep the K–5 model and all four elementary schools intact.

I am signing this petition because having both of my children attend the same school is extremely beneficial for our family. When one of my children attended preschool at Mt. Horeb while the other was at a different school, managing two separate drop-offs was challenging and time-consuming. I was relieved when both of my children were finally in the same school. Having them together also made it much easier to keep up with school events activities and after school clubs.

It's important because we are working mothers and it's hard enough figuring out transportation as it is.

My children are in the same school and they would have otherwise remain that way without the change. I like the faculty and staff for my children and would not like to disrupt that.

Consistency of the same school that she has been in. Having the same start time that we are used to and that we chose when we moved to the specific school.

I support maintaining the current school system model in Warren. Our schools have a strong record of academic excellence, provide outstanding opportunities for students, and contribute significantly to the strength of our community. Preserving the current model will ensure continued stability and success for students, families, and educators. I respectfully urge decision-makers to keep the existing school system structure in place.

Does nobody care about kids anymore? This does not protect the kids. Why are we isolating the 4th and 5th graders from the little kids? Just build another school to fix the space issues. It can’t be that expensive.

It's bad for kids educationally and bad for parents logistically, so it's bad for Warren obviously.

Small children have enough change and transition to deal with. This one seems unnecessary to me. It's not clear why the town should do it.
