Robert E Lee freed his slaves in 1862 long before general grant or general Sherman released their slaves many northern general who have statues did not free their slaves even after the Emancipation Proclamation and Robert E Lee did not need the Emancipation Proclamation be freed his before it was signed
He wasn't even for slavery he only fought for the south cause he was from Virgina and wasn't going to kill his own. Please people stop trying to make up history so it fits your warped mind, Thank You.
I believe strongly that this statue should be kept, and I'm from Connecticut. But I am very against the lefts attempt to erase parts of our country's history.
The insanity and disrespect in this country is horrifying. Robert E. Lee was a general not a dictator. Napoleon is looked on upon as a great strategist and influential power but not what he did. Why can't this honest General that didn't do nearly as much as Napoleon get respect?
My family fought and died in the civil war. It is personally offensive for his statue to be taken down and done away with. We actually need to do something about it and not take this bs.
I saw this in one of the last Planet of the Apes movies, only it was the Statue of Liberty... Enough is enough!
please halt the removal of statues. It is our heritage and history.

Erasing history is a very slippery slope. It allows a new narrative to be replaced that now cannot be countered factual evidence. This has been tried before and often with detrimental results.
