I spent all morning digging through old records and emailing the city archives because the silence from the mayor's office is getting loud. It is honestly bizarre how they think they can just move forward without checking with the family first but I am not going to let them bury this.

I honestly never thought this would gain this much steam but here we are and it just proves people actually care about protecting the history of the Lundy descendants. It feels like the tide is finally turning in our favor and I am just trying to keep up with all the notifications popping up on my phone while I drink my third cup of coffee.

Great Granddaughter...Foy Lundy does NOT represent any of the Lundys! He only represents himself. Please allow the FAMILY to take care of this matter, please! This monument was given to honor ALL veterans.
The mayor should never have canceled the public meeting regarding the flag, and then surreptitiously removed it, giving it to only one member of the Lundy family, without notifying the other family members. Cadle should resign for not following the Sunshine laws.
I'm Uncle Bill's great great grandson and I am proud of the legacy he has passed on. I want my children's children to know of the courage and honor of the brave men and women who have gone before them. How are we going to remember them if we banish their memorials from public discourse? Thank you.
I don't believe this memorial should be moved or the flag lowered! I would like to see a Lundy representative have a say in the matter....
I feel the removal shouldn't have happened, the family as a whole and even the entire city should have had a say so.

Confederate soldiers, sailors, and Marines who fought in the Civil war were made U.S. Veterans by an act of Congress in in 1957, U.S. Public Law 85-425, Sec 410, which was approved 23 May, 1958. This made all Confederate Veterans equal to U.S. Veterans. Any memorial to Confederate veterans agree equally as honorable as those to Union veterans. Restore the monument now!
