The Select Board finally backed down and agreed to maintain the dam. This is the only acceptable outcome and proof that when the community refuses to be ignored we can stop these bureaucrats from destroying our history. Keep your eyes open because we will be watching them every step of …

The Natick Dam and Waterfall and Pond constitute one of the most beautiful spots in our Town and along the Charles River. The dam has stood for nearly a century and has become an iconic backdrop to historic South Natick, with personal meaning for many residents and others.

It is a historical and recreational treasure. On any given day people flock from miles around to come to the site to recharge with the sight and sound of the Charles River flowing over our Spillway. Picnics are laid out, children play, and neighbors fish. It has become an important part of our heritage, and yet there is a movement to remove the Waterfall forever.

We signed this petition to show solidarity in strongly urging the Select Board to simply maintain the dam, preserving the picturesque Waterfall for the future.

We just hit 2,500 signatures. The Select Board needs to open their eyes and realize that this town will not let them destroy our waterfall for their own convenience.

Please don’t remove it, this place is so important to me and my family. Many memories was made here from prom pictures to wedding pictures. This is the place where we go to meditade and give our brains a slow down, its one of the most relaxing places.

The dam / spillover is an integral part of our community. Our heritage and, with two young (5&6) daughters who come and watch the blue herons and the ducks, our future. It is our responsibility to make the right decision for future generations.

As a Medfield resident who has lived near this iconic landmark for 32 years, I would urge the committee to invest in the beauty of their town. The park brings people from all over. Grabbing a coffee and walking is always peaceful. Save the dam!

This is Massachusetts, not California. We preserve and repair, not destroy and replace. One of the beauties of South Natick is the dam. Repair is an easy solution as contrasted to the catastrophic effects of tearing it down. Keep the charm we have now.

The South Natick dam is beautiful and should be preserved and repaired. Removal will lower the river, limiting canoeing and kayaking, will narrow the river increasing mosquitos and poison ivy. 1st dam built in 1720 at South Natick.

Life long Natick resident… I am extremely concerned about the contaminants on the upper dam will be disturbed if the dam is removed the Elmbank aqua fire is located downstream of the dam this could be extremely detrimental to the Natick water supply

Dover resident (formerly of South Natick). We love the dam, and would like to see it preserved or repaired.

How is it that people who do not reside in Natick decide what happens to the dam. If in fact the select board decided quickly to avoid a fine, there should be repercussions..dragging your feet on important historic decisions is not what you were elected to do. Something doesn’t smell right here…
