I oppose removal of the dam at Highland Pond in Middletown, Connecticut. Removal of the dam will destroy the scenic and historic pond and change the character of the surrounding neighborhood. Keep the dam and keep the pond!

I have submitted a formal request for the environmental impact report regarding the dam removal. I am currently coordinating a meeting with the town planning department to present our concerns on the record.

I grew up in Middletown. Losing this little piece of heaven would be a sad commentary on our core values. What kind of world will we leave the children if we chip away at Nature???
The dammed pond is now part of the stable habitat. Removing it will just disrupt the ecology.
I run by this pond a few times a week on my running route, many animals find it home and it is the most enjoyable part of my run. It’s beautiful and an important part of the neighborhood.
That pond has been there over 40 years! I fished it as a kid. The pond is part of the ecosystem! Why drain it? So u can expose more land to build houses in Westfield? Enough is enough!
All of the wildlife that has called this home would be forced to leave if the pond is gone. I love going to see all the ducks, migratory birds- Great Blue Heron, Osprey, ducks, the beavers, Geese and more. Its a great place to have so close to home!
I oppose this change, wildlife will be disrupted. It will take years to restore their habitat.
We live here because of the natural beauty of this area, Keep the dam and the pond

Even though there are plans to create a park and attract wildlife, there are no plans to protect the existing wildlife that have adopted the area over the past 145 years.
