I (we) the undersigned wish to express our dissatisfaction with the physical conditions and operational limitations of the Gil Bath House and Beach at Crystal Lake.
We also recognize that the present status and future use of this unique public resource is unfortunately constrained by the size and disposition of the existing site- which severely limits all options for significant improvements; that the majority of the beach frontage has been additionally impaired by the diminished condition of the protecting wall; And that the present and future Community use of the lake is further threatened by the insecure relationship with the abutting property at 20 Rogers Street. Therefore, we call upon the City of Newton to apply all possible means to acquire the adjacent (uninhabited) property at 20 Rogers Street- to restrict further private development, and to secure it for the
perpetual protection, use, and enjoyment of the Citizens of Newton as the first step toward a truly viable and renewed Crystal Lake swimming facility and park.

I honestly cannot believe how many people are seeing this and feeling the same frustration about the beach wall and that empty lot because it has been sitting there for way too long. It is wild to see everyone coming together like this and I am actually kind of tearing up thinking about how much better the lake could be if we finally get some movement on the Rogers Street property.

About time someone did something about 20 Rogers. That building is an eyesore and it ruins the whole vibe of the beach.

The bath house is honestly gross. Needs a complete overhaul if they want people to keep coming back.

The beach is a total wreck lately. Buying that property is the only way to actually fix the layout. Enough talk just do it.

So many memories at Crystal Lake growing up. It makes me sad to see it falling apart like this. Really hope the city steps up.
