Request for Public Acknowledgment Regarding the Health of Lake Coeur d'Alene (Do NOT donate after signing - your $ will not go to us)
This is a citizen-led request for community leaders to publicly acknowledge the deteriorating water quality of Lake Coeur d'Alene.
This Request for Acknowledgment is not affiliated with any organization or political party. This effort comes from citizens who value the water of Lake Coeur d'Alene and see it as a vital component of our economy and public health. These signatures show our community’s want for accountability of our leaders when making decisions affecting the health of Lake Coeur d'Alene.

The Lake Health Acknowledgment takes a positive approach by "calling in" our community leaders to take the first step of acknowledging that the lake needs our attention. This is not an effort that "calls out" or places blame but an effort to encourage our community leaders to take the first step toward resolution by publicly acknowledging that we have a problem with our lake water quality. By not acknowledging the problem, community leaders choose to ignore science and history which could imperil our future public health and economic viability.
Through this request for public acknowledgment, we have an opportunity to increase awareness of this public health issue and send a respectful message to our community leaders that the citizens of the Coeur d'Alene Basin are paying attention.
After the Lake Health Acknowledgment is signed - or left unsigned - by our community leaders we can then embrace our responsibility as individual citizens to monitor the actions or inaction our leaders choose as they pertain to prioritizing lake and community health.
This petition recognizes that we ALL have a responsibility to keep our community safe and to know when essential elements of our community are threatened. As with any serious neighborhood concern, when the lake becomes unsafe for fish and recreation, we expect our community leaders to acknowledge that threat, and then make changes to create a healthy and safe environment. But first is acknowledgment.
Signatories can include anyone impacted by the Coeur d'Alene basin watershed. This includes tourists from out of state and Washington residents who live downstream (Spokane River).
Note: If you would like to donate to this effort, DO NOT donate when prompted after signing the petition. Those funds go directly to the online petition company "ipetitions". To donate please send an e-mail directly to lakehealthcda@gmail.com. We will respond to coordinate a convenient transaction. This is an all-volunteer effort. Your donations are used to print educational materials (flyers) and pay for registration booth fees and event venue fees.
