The natural water process has been impaired by pollutants and harmful algae, posing a risk to our marine life, pets and citizens.

The technology and systems now exist to monitor and treat lakes challenged with harmful algae blooms (HABS), and has been advanced by GlobalWaterWorks.org, started here in Lake County.

LEARN MORE AT: Lake County Lake Lovers, an online workgroup within the Global Water Works mighty network, dedicated to supporting the restoration of Lake County's Lakes.

OR SIGN BELOW, NOTING YOU ARE IN FAVOR OF THE COUNTY FUNDING THIS CHEMICAL-FREE DEMONSTRATION in BUTLER LAKE, ST. MARY'S LAKE and LOCH LOMOND.

The proposal put forth by Lake County Lake Lovers is for three lakes, two of which are adjacent to teaching institutions. The $2.3M covers 5 years of work and the development of a scorecard to track progress. The proposal amount represents less than 2% of the American Rescue Plan Act's $135M allocation to Lake County. The proven solutions have been deployed in dozens of lakes around the world, and case studies are provided for similar lakes in Michigan and Missouri. The chemical-free treatment process was also showcased as the solution to HABS in last year's International Conference on Toxic Cyanobacteria by Wayne Carmichael, the leading expert on Toxic Cyanobacteria (http://bit.ly/HABS50 ).

HELP US PLACE LAKE COUNTY LAKES ON A PATH TO RESTORATION.

By adding my name to this petition, I advocate for the County to fund Lake County Lake Lovers proposal to demonstrate the eradication of harmful algae blooms and toxic cyanobacteria in Lake County's lakes. SEE THE COMPLETE PROPOSAL and SUPPORTING LETTERS: http://bit.ly/ARPAforLakes

After working many decades in water resource management I can see that this is a very important pilot project for long term sustainable progress. Please approve available funding to make a significant positive impact!

I have watched Butler Lake decline over ther last several years. It has become a weed patch and alge bed. I want to see fish spawning again and more birds returning

Loch Lomond is very important to the residents and to the storm water system. It is privately owned by and the residents and needs the funding badly.

I am quite concerned about the overall health of the waterbodies within Lake County, and I know that the runoff running from Loch Lomond through St.Mary's Lake & Butler Lake will have a significant impact to the ultimate water quality of the Des Plaines River (and beyond). Please consider this impact for today and our future generations.

Butler Lake is more than just a lake -- it's the heart of a social network of students, joggers, dog walkers, kayakers, kids learning to fish, and more. It deserves our best effort.

As a student at Libertyville High School, we use Butler Lake for many different activities. Whether club, sport, or even PE. Having a clean lake would not only look better, but our health won't be at risk from being around all of the harmful algae and pollutants.
