We ask that the Portage school district administration and the City of Portage assess the current traffic flow in and around Portage North during drop off and pick up times. It is currently an unsafe environment during those times due to 1) lack of appropriate signage and lighting, 2) high traffic volume for both the middle school and high school, and 3) lack of a safe crossing for pedestrians, especially in the dark morning hour. We ask that solutions be identified and implemented quickly.

Every morning is a total nightmare trying to get out of the lot. People are driving like maniacs and you cant see the kids at all in the dark. Needs lights bad.

Oregon is a very dangerous area during drop off hours. Besides what is mentioned in the petition today sidewalks were not clear by Curious Kids so students crossing Milham had to walk through 11 inches of snow or walk in the road.

The current traffic flow is laugh worthy.

Changes need to come quickly, before someone gets hurt.
