We, the parents, residents, and community members of the Mountain Ridge area, are calling on Glendale officials to take urgent action to improve safety around our neighborhood schools — including the elementary, middle, and high schools that all border high-traffic roads especially N 67th Ave between W Patrick Ln to W Deer ValleyRd. We have not only the High School, but the middle school just behind it and an elementary school right down the street. In a residential area full of kids riding bikes and walking to school all needing to cross dangerous streets.
Our students face dangerous conditions daily due to:
- Lack of crossing guards
- Few or unsafe crosswalks
- Extremely Heavy congestion during school hours
- Limited Parking for students and parents
- Speeding drivers in school zones
- Increase of traffic
- Major ongoing road construction
Too many children have already been injured or put at risk. We believe this is preventable, and we demand immediate measures to protect our kids.
✅ We are asking the city to:
- Install clearly marked crosswalks at key intersections and crossings
- Speed reduction zone to temporarily reduce the speed limit
- Add flashing school zone signage and enforce reduced speed limits
- Hire crossing guards at high-traffic points during school hours
- Conduct a traffic safety audit of the entire school zone
- Work with the school district and community to create a long-term plan for safe student travel, parking and parent pickup/dropoff
Our children deserve to walk to school safely. Please join us in demanding action now — before another child is hurt.

Enforce NO TURN ON RED within 1 mile of school zones. Increase presence of modern lighted signage, high visibility paint in all crosswalks, increased traffic control with 3x fines for speed violations and red light running.
There is a large problem with kids trying to race across 67th avenue @ Patrick Lane outside of the crosswalk and while the light is green, they try to beat the cars driving down 67th ave
67 is absolutely unsafe for anyone trying to cross. Something needs done to keep students safe immediately! I drive this road 4 times or more a day or more and it’s scary with cars flying. Add some flashing street crossing lights at all enter sections
100% this needs to happen. I personally witnessed 2 kids get hit in this exact spot last school year!
Crossing guards and traffic police are needed. 2,900 students trying to get to the high school at the same time. Too much congestion. Police presence is needed there.
This is really a low-hanging fruit fix. Simple, but effective. No reason this shouldn’t happen.
