Currently, the entrance to Powdersville Middle School on Roe Rd. represents a severe and immediate threat to the safety of students, parents, and local residents. The current infrastructure is insufficient for the volume and speed of traffic in the Powdersville area.

We are calling for immediate action due to three critical safety failures:

  • Zero Visibility: Drivers exiting the school cannot see oncoming traffic due to the congestion of cars entering, creating a "blind exit" scenario that has led to frequent collisions.
  • No Pedestrian Protection: There are no sidewalks. Children are forced to walk on the shoulder or in the roadway itself, inches away from moving vehicles.
  • Excessive Speed: Without traffic calming measures, vehicles frequently exceed the school zone speed limit, turning a high-traffic area into a high-danger zone.
Our Demand

The safety of our children is non-negotiable and should be the utmost priority of our local government. We, the undersigned residents of Powdersville, demand the following improvements:

  1. Traffic Control: The installation of a traffic light or roundabout to manage flow and ensure safe exiting.
  2. Pedestrian Infrastructure: The immediate construction of continuous sidewalks and street lights leading to the school entrance and all the way around the block.
  3. Enforcement: Increased patrol presence and enhanced school zone signage until permanent infrastructure is completed.

Every day we wait is a day we risk a child's life. We must act now—before a preventable accident becomes a fatal one.

The entrance\exit at Powdersville Middle off of Roe Rd is terrifying. Turning left into or out of the entrance is dangerous. Please do something soon before somebody gets injured or worse!

Signing this petition because we need sidewalks for the children that have to walk home behind the school daily and for anyone who has to pull out morning or afternoon from Powdersville middle school. It is so dangerous!

I have witnessed multiple near hits at the entrance to the middle school. I have 4 kids that have gone to Powdersville middle. This intersection has always been dangerous and needs to be fixed!

Police officers directing traffic in the mornings and afternoons is needed! Along with flashing speed limit signs. Speeders are a huge problem for people exiting the school during dismissal times.

We need safe roads to and from our schools! I won’t even let my high schooler take his younger brother to school because the middle school entrance is so dangerous.

This is a very important issue to protect our kids and loved ones. Powdersville is growing and we have to adapt for the safety especially with schools and a new medical emergency building going in. Roads need to flow and be clear with visability for school/emergency traffic. Thank you!
