The students, staff and parents of Union Colony Elementary respectfully DEMAND the city of Evans put in a stoplight at the intersection of 11th avenue and 29th street road. We require this due to the lack of safety to those crossing 11th avenue in the mornings and afternoons, when school starts and when school gets out. The school crossing guard has been seen multiple times, almost getting hit by cars while trying to help kids cross 11th avenue. Drivers pay little to no attention to the caution light or the school speed limit zones posted. The light would not only help with the safety of pedestrians but also help the flow of traffic at these busy times of day. Please sign for the safety of our students and livelihood of our school.
Thank you.
Jessica, thank you for getting this started. My concern is not only for the safety of our students and families, but also for the neighborhood as a whole. There are pedestrians crossing 11th Ave. at this intersection at all times of day. Many are mothers with young children. A light would increase the safety of everyone in this neighborhood.
