The University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) is renowned for its vibrant cycling culture, with numerous students and staff relying on bicycles as their primary mode of transportation. However, many areas along the campus bike paths lack adequate lighting, which poses a safety risk during early morning and late evening hours. Through this petition, we aim to urge the UCSB administration to enhance lighting and implement additional safety measures on all campus bike paths to ensure the well-being of all cyclists as well as pedestrians.
