There has been a major increase in the amount of crime on campus and in the Americus community. Due to poor lighting and surveillance systems, crime often goes without punishment. We propose to take the necessary steps to provide a safer atmosphere.

Seeing this kind of movement confirms that my fatigue is shared by others who also feel unsafe. This momentum is heavy but it gives me the resolve to keep pushing forward until we get the lighting and security we need.

Due to poor lighting on Greek row, a GSW student was physically assaulted and had a weapon drawn against him as he walked to his car. With better lighting in this area, this crime would be less likely to happen. If new lights are "too expensive," will the administration wait for further injuries or even a death to occur before taking action?
I do not feel that GSW is a safe campus at night. I think it needs to be more lit, especially near the cafeteria. The police need to do more than just ride around in their police car/truck.
Used to be a student at GSW for undergrad. The campus at night is not a very safe place. Poor lighting combined with no surveillance of any kind makes for an easy target for robbers and the like.
I do not feel safe because it is not a well-lit area, and when I am walking to and from my car at night, I rarely see Campus Safety patrolling the campus.
I don't feel safe on this campus. And if something did happen to me on campus no one would know because of the lack of proper surveillance. We have had multiple acts of crime not only to students but to coaches and faculty as well. How far must the crimes go for something to be done about this?
I would like to see a sidewalk all the way around campus. This would make it safer for us to walk outside without the fear of being run over.

I feel that campus security are not doing a great job providing safety. Often do I walk back to my dorm on weekends and do not see any Campus Safety on patrol. My suggestion to them would be to spread out and patrol all areas of campus during the day and night. A four person team would suffice. One or two officers can only do so much.
