The Ancient Order of Hibernians parade committee decided to eliminate large vehicles for the 2013 St Patrick's Day Parade. Vehicles like the flatbed tractor trailer floats and also fire apparatus will not be allowed to participate in the parade. As a community we believe that these vehicles are an important part of the parade experience. They quoted safety and the new roundabout as a factor for not allowing these vehicles. Fire Trucks and Tractor Trailers navigate their way around this traffic circle daily without major incident.  In light of recent events and the passing of a true HERO Matthew Porcari It is more important than ever that our fire departments are represented.  I would like to not only see our departments represented but OWEGO FIRE should lead the way.  For those that did not know Matt he was an amazing Father, Husband, Friend and Fire Fighter.  Lets honor Matt and our local Fire Departments who put their lives on the line every time we respond.
