The council just killed the plan for Cherwell field. We saved our green space. Keep an eye on the site to make sure they stick to it.

Final supporters
Rochdale council have approved 43 new homes to be built on Cherwell field ( where the annual bonfire is normally held) this is the final resort to save the field before we end up with some more houses in heywood and losing yet more green open areas for the children to play on.
Also to add there is plenty of unused land around Heywood most of which is an eyesore to the town due to buildings being pulled down and being left. This is also a Green belt field .

We have enough brown field sites in Heywood. Why build on fields which are well used in the community. Site of old Squash club and school are very near to this space. They would be ideal and will improve the local area.
I live near this field and it is a nice place to take toddlers to play on,also a lot of responsible dog walkers use this as well I see many Walkers cleaning up after their dogs.And where will the yearly bonfire take place...Please leave our field alone
I've been going to 'Cherwell bommy' for as long as I can remember since I was a kid, it's an annual event that I wish to take my 2 daughters (& grandchildren) for years to come to enjoy Cherwell fair every Halloween/bonfire weekend
Heywood township refused the application - why should councillors who live in wardle make the decisions on Heywood developments !! Disgrace but it was decided before we all went to the meetings in my opinion
Italian wrong on so many levels to build on this field especially when there's good land to build on elsewhere where houses have been pulled down or just abit further down the road where a primary school used to be but since its destruction it's been left to rot
They've already got rid of the tree on the hill not right
Why do the 'little people' never get heard? Why knock a load of houses down near enough across the road and leave that space empty which has always had housing on just to show you can throw your weight around and build on perfectly good green area AGAIN?

One of the reasons we decided to move to Heywood was for the children to play out together with family members' kids and enjoy the green space. This will detract from the area and we agree that there are many other far less desirable land sites that could be built on.
