The Rotherham Action Group are members of the local communities who have joined together to campaign against Rotherham Borough Councils plans to build on green belt land throughout the Borough.
RMBC plans to build between 24500 and 32000 houses in the Borough.
Along the Ravenfield/Bramley Parish Line, (Lidgit Lane /Moor Lane South) the plan is to build over 1270 new homes, and business units, as well as in smaller areas around the Parishes. Wickersley does not escape lightly either, with plans to build across the Parish.
Along Greasborough and Rawmarsh (Bassingthorpe Farm) the plan is to build 3600 new homes on green belt land.
THAT IS THE SIZE OF ALMOST 6000 FOOTBALL PITCHES.
Now, assume two adults and two children to a house.
Local infrastructure will not cope with this massive increase in population.
Schools will not be able to accommodate children, doctors and dentists would not cope with the numbers, fire and the Police Service who are already under-staffed, would not be able to cope with the increased workload. Where would these people come from And where would they work
If we haven’t included your Parish, it does not mean it is not up for development of Greenbelt – please email us and we will try to steer you in the right direction.
Seeing the weight of this support behind us is overwhelming when the days feel this long. I am drained but seeing this momentum proves that people are finally waking up to the scale of what we are losing. We move forward because we have to.

Our doctors are already booked up for weeks. Adding thousands of people to the area without upgrading the actual facilities is just plain dangerous. Sort it out.

Where are all these people supposed to work anyway? The local economy cant support this volume of new homes. Total madness.

Used to love walking the dog round by Bassingthorpe but now it looks like it will be concrete soon. Really sad for the wildlife and the community.

The roads round here are already a nightmare at 8am. How is the council planning to manage thousands more cars on these tiny lanes? It is just common sense that this wont work.

Ridiculous. Stop building on our green spaces. Once it is gone you can't get it back.
