I was just talking to a neighbor who had to drive two hours to visit their mom and it honestly breaks my heart because people should be able to age in their own community. I am still badgering the local office for an actual meeting so please just hang tight while I keep pestering them.

Our mom spent 6 months in rehab in Steinbach and then 6 months in St Adolph at the nursing home while waiting for placement in Steinbach. It was extremely hard on her. Elderly folks should not be sent away when they need their friends and family support the most.
With an elderly Dad, 92 years, I am aware that there are shortages of spaces for care in our local area. Should he need care, the chances are good that he would have to be placed somewhere at a distance where I will be unable to visit on a regular basis, or help him.
There is a huge need for additional Personal Care Homes for our Seniors! Take note of what the future will look like, considering the growing numbers of cases of Ahlzeimer and Dementia, if there is not adequate housing. It's serious!
I am the care giver for my wife at home. She has dementia and I fear the time comes where she needs care outside of the home and there is a waiting line. I feel the pressure now and hope it isn't worse in the future, when ever that is
My mother has been waiting in the Bethesda Hospital since March of 2015 for a room in a local PCH. They say it will be months and she may even be moved to Vita or Morris hospital in the mean time. Let's get another PCH in Steinbach and expand the Resthaven. They have the land.

We need to keep our seniors in Steinbach. It’s sad to see the pillars and other residents of our community having to move to senior homes in other communities when they age, when these were the people that built our community. It's hard on both the seniors and their families.
