The Manitoba Government has cut the annual budget for long-term care by $2.3M in the 2018-19 budget. Personal care homes budgets have cut services as a result. These cuts can affect staff hours, the quality of care to seniors and the number of seniors staying in hospitals while they wait for a placement. Given Manitoba's quickly increasing elderly population, we want funding for seniors restored with annual increases that reflect the number of seniors requiring support..
We. the undersigned, petition the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba as follows:
Stop the Government’s cuts to reduce funding for Personal Care Homes and, instead, restore and expand funding to reflect the increasing number of seniors who require support in their daily living needs.
As my father is in a personal care home right now. I can only hope that ALL POLITICIANS consider their needs. But for the grace of god they may be the ones requiring these essential services soon. They appear to be somewhat short signed here with the cuts. These elderly citizens have spent their entire life working and paying taxes in Manitoba. They must be treated as well as is possible by our government and politicians. They have more then earned it.
