Last year it was decided on behalf of the school board to eliminate school holiday parties. Not on behalf of the families or children. We are a minority in this elimination of holiday celebrations. Surrounding districts and districts far all still incorporate these fun activities for the school children. So let us be heard since we werent given that chance. If you think our kids should be able to dress in costumes on halloween and hand out valentines and celebrate and make memories with their classmates, sign this petition. Be heard!!

I was just looking at the pile of names and suddenly I remembered the way the hallways used to look during the winter celebrations which honestly makes this whole thing feel so personal now. It is wild how much momentum we have gathered because it turns out a lot of people are actually pretty frustrated about losing those memories for the kids. I think we might actually be on to something big here so let us keep the pressure right where it belongs on the board.

What I remember most about elementary school was how much fun I had at holiday parties. Everybody had a great time. Food and games. Parties let us look forward to something at school other than always having to just do schoolwork.

My niece is going to be so heartbroken that they don't do parties anymore! She loved it because it was a good time for her to work on her social skills. Im sad to see that they took so much away from these kids. BRING IT BACK!

Some of my best childhood memories was are school parties and it was always something nice to look forward to at school. My oldest daughter is sad that she will no longer get to celebrate holidays and my youngest will not even get to have the joy of it. Please bring back holiday parties it is unfair to the children.

Bring back the parties. Doesn't even need to be holiday...how about a fall, winter and Valentines party. Kids need to have fun at school and they provide the opportunity for parents to be in the school.

Any holiday that students want to celebrate should be celebrated in school, too. Many students' parents do not have the time to do so at home. It would be very comforting for a lot of students to be able to proudly celebrate their culture's holidays.

The decision to take our parties away was stupid. I wrote a letter and got no response. As parents we don't turn away kids that can't afford to participate. That was a cop out. Maybe we should vote to lower the Superintendent salary andcwith the money we are paying a sub could have funded the parties..smh.
