This petition is to reset Beveridge magnet middle school. The new principal has so far has taken away the winter dance which was already planned, i know me myself has been planning my schedule around the usual dates for the dance since December. To just be finding out that a Beveridge Middle school tradition since the beginning for what we know has been cancled . Today 2/7/20 the new principal has made an announcement that students & the admins are no longer allowed to sing Happy birth day in the cafeteria because it is "Disturbing" and "Scary" Even though the cafeteria is loud regardless but unknown people complained about it being loud and disturbing. We don't know what will come next but we should stop it before it becomes any worse impeaching on Beveridge traditions. From what i have gathered from teachers who attended Beveridge they used to have a school dance not just in the winter but every quarter.Please sign this petition in order to reinstate the Beveridge Traditions and protect other traditions from being removed as well.

The feedback from students and alumni regarding these recent policy changes has been both consistent and illuminating. I am currently coordinating with several staff members to formally present our concerns to the school administration.

I don’t attend Beveridge but i know people that do. I think that what your principal is doing is taking away things that are suppose the be remembered in middle school. Like school dances.

this lowkey makes me mad af since beveridge has been having such a hard year with all the chaos that’s been going on plus one of our friends being taken from us and i feel like she really isn’t doing anything to help us feel better and all she’s doing is cutting out the positivity and fun of the winter dance and even singing happy birthday in the lunch room. like tf? those were helping us more than hurting us. those two events make us feel more like a family and she’s just taking them from us and i personally think that isn’t ok. no offense to her because i feel like she seems like a generally nice person but she kinda has her priorities screwed up... like she’s not doing anything to make us feel better and she’s not stopping all the hateful language and the fights that are erupting every day. we are all stressed and hurting & i feel like we have a right to tell ppl that. thx for this. :)

No need to change the traditions because of the principle opinion she needs to think about the kids who want to participate in these activities.
