\"We, the undersigned, call upon the State Liquor Authority to enforce its own rules, to respect community will and to honor community board opposition to the oversaturation of bars in the Lower East Side/East Village. We further call upon our elected officials to pass legislation that will give control over liquor licenses to our local community and that will effectively limit noise and disruption caused by bars. We call upon our community board to take steps to prevent more bars from opening in saturated areas of our neighborhood and revoke the liquor licenses of establishments that violate regulations.\"

The noise outside my window tonight is just as loud as it was when I started this campaign. Walking the streets at night convinces me more than ever that our neighborhood is losing its soul to these bars.

March 15, 2006

Seeing this kind of momentum confirms that I am not the only one who can no longer sleep through the chaos outside my window. It is clear that our neighbors are finally reaching their breaking point.

The noise is absolutely out of control. It used to be a neighborhood now its just one big party for people who dont even live here.

Too many bars. Not enough respect for the residents.

Seriously we have like 10 bars on my street alone. ENOUGH.

Keep the LES for the people who actually live here. Sick of the drunk crowds screaming at 3am.

Our community board needs to listen to us for once instead of just approving every single permit that comes across their desks.
