I am signing this petition because the safety, sleep and/or general quality of life for my family and community have been adversely and directly affected by the businesses and patrons of Woodland (242 FLATBUSH) and/or Bleacher's Bar & Grill (240 FLATBUSH). Over the past several years but most recently since the addition of Bleacher's to the neighborhood, the residential blocks proximate to these establishments have witnessed an dramatic increase in the number of criminal activity and quality of life violations. Specifically, our community has been plagued by repeated and recent occurrences of :
Shootings, Muggings, Open Air Drug Dealing and Public Drug Use, Drunk Driving, Fights, Loud Screaming, Loud Music Playing Late at Night, Public Intoxication, Public Urination, Property Damage, Littering of Alcohol Bottles, Disorderly Conduct + Loitering
By signing this petition, I am joining my community in hereby calling on Community Board 6, the NYPD, the 78th precinct Council, local state elected officials (Simon, Montgomery, Hamilton) to make a formal request to the SLA for an expedited review of these establishments licenses, with the hopes of revoking or limiting, and more active enforcement of the liquor licenses granted.
Until such end goal is obtained, we hereby call upon in the interim:
- The NYPD and 78th Community Council to immediately implement a Multi-Agency Response to Community Hotspots (MARCH) operation in the area of these bars per Community Board 6's multiple requests. We further request that the 78th dispatch members of the 78th Auxiliary between the hours of 9pm and 4am on our blocks (6th Ave between St. Mark's and Park Place; St. Mark's between Flatbush and 5th; Prospect Place between Flatbush and 5th)
- The NYPD to implement random sobriety check points in our immediate area between the hours of 10pm and 5am.
- The NY State Liquor Authority to explain why it renewed the liquor license of Woodland despite the Community Board's recommendation to not renew. Further, we call on local state elected officials (Simon, Montgomery, Hamilton) to make a formal request to the SLA for this response.
- The Department of Transportation to change back parking on 6th Avenue between Prospect Place and St. Mark's from metered to its previous status as alternate side.

Reaching this milestone feels heavy rather than celebratory given what our neighborhood has endured. I am exhausted by this fight but seeing so many of you join this effort keeps me moving forward.

I am concerned about the general nature and actions of patrons of the three bars (Woodlands, Bleachers, and Sugar Cane), though the latter did not seem to present a problem until it was joined to the other two. Public urination, public intoxication, and disorderly conduct, as well as significant littering are a constant problem and public nuisance. I strongly suggest greater enforcement of the liquor licensing of these establishments.
The late night sale of alcohol at Woodlands and Bleachers and the subsequent misbehavior of their patrons has got to stop. 6th Avenue, Prospect Pl, and St. Marks Ave have turned into rowdy and sometimes violent overflow areas for these 2 establishments. Limiting the sale of alcohol, along with a strong NYPD presence will do a lot to restore the neighborhood to a livable state.
This place is trash SHUT BLEACHERS DOWN ALREADY!!!
I'm really at my wits end. This is totally unreasonable and unacceptable.

I have lived here for 21 years. The last year we have seen a terrible change in the neighborhood.
Community Board decisions are l;ike the canary in the coal mine. While CB decisions are advisory, government agencies can be dismissive of CB decisions at the agencies' peril, as well as that of the comunity residents.

I have lived above Woodland for the past 3.5+ years and am fed up with the completely insanity that I see outside every late night and weekend. I've submitted dozens of noise complaints and complaints about cars and motorcycles parking on the sidewalk, yet this still continues. If the bar cannot contain its patrons and NYPD won't do anything except sit outside and watch the bedlam, then it's time to take further action. I fully support my neighbors and community in bringing the hammer down on this absurd bar.
