Dear Members of Community Board #3 Manhattan, We, the undersigned residents strongly oppose the granting of any form of liquor license to the Mercury Dime establishment on 246 East 5th Street. This block is narrow and mainly residential, including the Krause home for developmentally disabled adults and the JASA senior/disabled residence. We are already oversaturated with liquor licenses (including the soon to be opened Cooper Square Hotel). On East 5th Street between Bowery and 2nd Ave there are six liquor licenses. We the residents respectfully request that the SLA committee take our quality of life concerns into consideration with the understanding that this narrow street already has its full share of drinking establishments.

I was walking past the street today and the sheer noise of it all honestly just made my head spin because how are we supposed to live here with even more chaos. People keep messaging me about the senior residents and it just makes me want to scream because the neighborhood is really changing in ways that make no sense for anyone who actually lives in these buildings.

NO MORE BARS ON 5TH ST. The seniors and the residents at the home deserve some peace and quiet. This is a neighborhood not a frat party.

This street is way to crowded already. We cant even sleep at night with all the noise from the bars. Leave us alone.
