Signing this petition will signify your support for a Community Path in Belmont. The proposed path will link Alewife Station to Belmont Center and Waverly Square. It will be a multi-use path (not just for biking) that will encourage residents to get out and exercise, bring foot traffic to commercial districts and by doing so, raise property values.

No need to sign this petition if you've signed another in support of the path.

By signing this, you will make sure your voice counts when the Belmont Board of Selectmen consider the decision to go forward with a Community Path. Please, only Belmont MA residents may sign.

Please help show the Selectmen that different neighborhoods support the path--enter the name of the nearest elementary school to you in the comments section! We need support! I never thought we would see this much energy behind the path idea so quickly even though I know how much everyone wants better ways to move around town without a car. It really feels like the Selectmen might actually listen now because who could ignore so many people talking about safe walking and biking routes for their families.

We family (including to elementary school-aged boys) would love a bike path! It would be so nice NOT to load bikes in the car and head over to the Minuteman Trail for a safe flat place to ride.

I regulary use the path between Brighton and Alewife for my commute. Completing this path would save me the "near misses" that happen when I have to bike on Brighton.

I use the path from Blanchard to Alewife frequently. A quick, safe way to bike or walk to Belmont Center would be good for businesses and for the environment.

My family and I live near Cushing Square, and our closest elementary school is Wellington. We wholeheartedly support the Belmont Community Path plan!

With good planning and design, a community path could minimize/eliminate concerns from abutters while proving to be an asset to the town, on personal and community levels. Let's look to our neighbors in Arlington for lessons learned.

We should not let the temporary objections of a few households along Channing Road block the construction of a wonderful new town asset that will benefit a very large number of people and that will encourage and facilitate low carbon transportation and exercise.
