Support Sidewalks/Pathwalks Along River, Central, High, and Grove Streets in Norwell
We, the undersigned residents of the Town of Norwell, Massachusetts petition the Board of Selectmen and other Town Officials to begin the process of pursuing the installation of sidewalks/pathwalks/pathways along River, Central, High, and Grove Streets,
In addition to offering recreational opportunities, installing these infrastructures will connect in a safe manner numerous households to other key recreational properties in town including the Community Clipper Complex, current Pathway and Fogg Forest, the educational facilities at the Norwell High and Middle Schools, Cole and Vinal Elementary Schools, and municipal facilities including the Town Hall, and Library.
Let's make Norwell a "sidewalk community" for EVERYONE!

I was most definitely not in favor of the path walks when the first were constructed. Having walked them since, I love them and think our town needs many more like them!!!
Lots of other towns on the South Shore have sidewalks which provide safe places for people of all ages and stages to walk. Why not Norwell?

Not quite sure what makes Main Street so special over the beautiful roads through Norwell where the traffic is considerably less congested and the rural settings so much more conducive to meandering sidewalks and comfortable strolls.
Sidewalks provide SAFE passageways next to the streets/roads identified in the petition. People of all ages can use them to get to school, stores, nature, library, --even exercise!
Use the pedestrian Enhancement Fund for construction of these.

We live on Grove Street and have experienced, firsthand, the dangers of walking on this road. A sidewalk would unlock families from their yards and making Grove Street significantly safer for those exercising, those wanting to walk their dogs and for families to get out and about without jumping in a car to go do so.
