Petition to permanently connect Cabot School and Cabot Park
We, the undersigned residents of Newton, MA, fully support the constant connection of Cabot School and Cabot Park made possible by the permanent closure of the portion of Parkview Avenue adjacent to Cabot School.
With the planned renovation and expansion of Cabot School, we believe that there are enormous benefits to the permanent connection of Cabot Park and Cabot School. This integration will provide secure, traffic-free access to the playground and to open green space for the students of Cabot. The direct connection of the school site and the park will also provide a safer, more pedestrian-friendly route to school for many Cabot students. Additionally, the greater Newton community will benefit from uninterrupted, safe access to the school and its playground from the much-used sports fields in the park, and the proposed school design will offer many opportunities for shared, non-school uses of these two community assets. This new connection will serve to enhance both Cabot School and Cabot Park as more valuable, vibrant community resources for decades to come.

Yes!! We need to keep the traffic away from the school yard. It makes no sense to have cars cutting through there.
This would be so much safer for the kids. Trying to walk through there at pickup time is a total nightmare.
Common sense solution. Makes the area way better for everyone in Newton.
my kids go to cabot and its scary when cars are flying down that road while the kiddos are outside. close it already!!
Perfect idea for the neighborhood. Our kids need room to play without worrying about parkview ave traffic.
