The county just confirmed that the Rutter's proposal is officially withdrawn. I am overwhelmed with relief for our neighborhood and so grateful that you helped me protect our streets from this massive truck stop. Please keep your eyes open to ensure this land remains protected for our community.

Attention New Market Residents! Rutter's Gas Station is planning to build a location at the corner of Mussetter and Old National Pike. The site plan is actually 8,427 square feet (not 4,827). They are planning on 12 gas pumps, 4 diesel pumps and 9 designated spaces for truck parking. This cannot happen! A business like this will bring more large trucks on 144 not to mention the amount of traffic that will increase in our small town. Please sign this petition by August 10th so that it can be brought to the attention of the county! Thank you!

The traffic studies they keep ignoring fail to account for the heavy trucks already crowding our quiet corner. We need to hit that one thousand signature mark before the county hearing to force them to look at the reality of this disruption.

We are grinding toward one hundred signatures and the county needs to see that our community is united against this truck stop. Please take a moment to text this link to your neighbors so we can hit that mark before our next meeting.

Dewey Way Resident. This proposed gas station/truck stop would create such havoc in downtown new market and our quiet family neighborhood. Please take into account the day care center, the small kids in the neighborhood. This would ruin housing values.

Issues of truck size and road infrastructure, current traffic levels, schools and day care directly across the street and a mile to East and West of proposed station, damage to historic image of community, all indicate proposed gas station should not move forward.

Not against a gas station being built there, it would be very convenient for locals, but not a 'Truck stop' Rutters. We need a residential gas station, like Royal Farms or WaWa. Not something that is going to bring 18 wheeler traffic down through a tiny town.

Not against convenience stores, but truck parking would be better suited to a more industrial area for sure. Plus, given the fragile nature of old New Market’s brick buildings, they’re sure to suffer from the increased truck traffic.

This is an inappropriate location. It’s not near enough to a highway - to access, trucks and traffic will have to travel in areas not suited for this. A truck would either need to go through downtown New Market by NMES and NMMS or by OHS, OES, OMS.

Agreed. Yeagertown Rd is constantly closed because large commercial trucks go down it and then there is inevitably an accident because the road is too small. The infrastructure is not there for large and oversized commercial trucks.
