Wood Canyon Elementary has been a respected elementary school in Aliso Viejo. It has been 20 years since its doors opened and it is not time for their doors to close now!

The school is threatened to be closed by the charter school, Community Roots Academy. Wood Canyon has been sharing its campus with the charter as a temporary solution until they could find a permanent location. But Wood Canyon is considered an option for their new campus!!

There are only 4 public elementary schools in Aliso Viejo (including Wood Canyon). If Wood Canyon were to close, there would be 450 students to be displaced. Where would they go? The other elementary schools are impacted. The surrounding communities also have schools at capacity. It does not make sense to take away another community school.

Aliso Viejo is a family oriented community and there is a large percentage of families with elementary school students. We need Wood Canyon to stay...it's a great school community consisting of dedicated teachers and staff and wonderful families.

Let's come together to save a school that is passionate and dedicated to educate and to fulfill the lives of our children! Please sign the petition and forward to anyone else you may know to support us!

Wood Canyon is a fantastic place it saw both my sons through from kindergarten to fifth grade. Same for my niece and nephew. It provided long lasting friendships as well as a place of employment for myself for 10 years

Wood. Canyon must remain a public school for the sake of all of Aliso Viejo families with school aged children. Every public grade school in Aliso Viejo is over capacity. Closing Wood Canyon will only add to the over crowding of the other grade schools.

The classrooms have too many kids already and parking/drop off is a big challenge at all the A.V. Schools. One school closure can affect so many things most importantly the quality of the education our children need.

Instead of closing this public school for a charter school that is public yet exclusive, find a solution to fix what is wrong. It is not fair that my children's school, that is already full will be affected even more and that the students attending this school will be displaced.

Charter schools were never meant to replace public elementary schools, simply provide an alternative. If this is allowed to happen it would certainly prove that "no good deed goes unpunished". What kind of message does this send to parents, kids and teachers alike? Kindness is repaid with cruelty??

Leave Wood Canyon as it is. We don't need anymore charter schools in the area. Send the Community Roots Academy kids to Journey. Journey already overtook Foxborough, another charter school can't overtake Wood Canyon too.

My daughter had gone to Don Juan Elementary and had the WORST experience there. Now is currently at Wood Canyon and is 110% better thanks to the caring and support, wonderful teachers . It would be ashamed and a tragedy if this school were to close. Please keep Wood Canyon open it is best for the students and Aliso Viejo

I went to an interview for a teaching position with Community Roots Academy once. I was not impressed with their leaders or teachers. Please, let's keep the doors of a great school open: Wood Canyon Elementary School! I know teachers at Wood Canyon and they are great! They are dedicated, caring, and the students and parents love them!!! Thank you.
