The planning committee officially rejected the proposal for the new student complex. It has been a long and draining fight to keep these doors open but we finally have some breathing room. Keep an eye on the site to ensure they do not try to push another plan through next …

We object to planning application 17/03026/MJR | TOTAL DEMOLITION OF THE EXISTING BUILDINGS AND REDEVELOPMENT FOR STUDENT ACCOMMODATION, LAND AT JUNCTION OF NORTH ROAD AND MAINDY ROAD, CATHAYS, CARDIFF

- There are enough student flats in Cardiff already to cater for student demand.

- The street scene of Maindy Road would be changed and it’s out of character with the terraced houses.

- The development is a tall building; too high when next door to the adjacent houses.

- There are not enough parking spaces, it would add to the parking problems in Maindy Road.

- The development would lead to the loss of around 25 jobs from the businesses currently on the site.

The days are long and the opposition is stubborn. We need to reach the next goal before the planning committee meets because the developers are counting on us to get tired and fade away.

Totally uneccesary, there is already ample student accommodation Thr demolition of Autocraft and the two adjacent businesses will cause unemployment and inconvenience customers

Why do the small businesses always have to suffer for developments. This garage has been here for years and years. I have been going here for well over 12yrs myself. They are a part of the community, and a trusted local garage. And that's why my signature and all others count.

Fanatastic garage, as an NHS employee who needs her car, these guys have bent over backwards to fit me in last minute and have always been reliable. Definitely a shame to hear the proposal for the site. Cardiff doesn’t need more student accommodation!

there are thousands of student flats all over cardiff this is a local business and should supported and encouraged to employ local people and stay in this area rather than drive them out to the suburbs onto one of the industrial estates as they have with local shopping

Are they really going to be student accommodation? Developers seek planning permission claiming that they are for students and then profit hugely from letting these rooms to non students claiming that they cannot be occupied. It’s happening elsewhere in Cardiff. It’s wrong.

Parking issues will be a nightmare and a tall modern building will be out of keeping with this tree lined street. There is so much student accommodation being built in cardiff it’s ridiculous, keep the high rise buildings in the city centre.

Wrong place for so many student flats, right next to one of the most gridlocked roads into the city.Cardiff is being ruined by so many student flats.
