We, the undersigned, object to the approval of a development permit for a fixed use building at 9413 118 Avenue Edmonton (main floor two General Retail Stores, second and third floors Apartment Housing of 14 Dwellings).

Our objection sits with the relaxation of the following site requirements:

Section 54.2, Schedule 1 - Minimum total on-site parking requirement varied from 16 spaces to 6.

Section 54.2, Schedule 1 - Minimum visitor parking requirement varied from 2 spaces to 1 space.

Anyone familiar with the area will know that current parking in this area is unfavorable. Despite transit, only adding 6 spaces for retail and 14 new homes is far from adequate. To not even add one parking spot for every new family is unreasonable. The additional burden this places on future residents, future businesses, current businesses, and current residents in the area is unacceptable.

While we agree that development of currently unused space is important to the growth of our city, the additional burden these relaxed parking requirements causes is beyond the point of un-due hardship to the current community.

Ridiculous decision to allow this. My street is full enough as it is. Fix the parking or dont build it.

The parking situation on 118 is already a nightmare. How are 14 apartments supposed to fit into 6 spots? Totally unrealistic.

As one of the many people who have invested their lives, thier savings, thier time and there energies into moving this neighbourhood from what it was to what it is now and to where it is going, I believe I and we have earned the right to have our voices heard with regards to any proposed variances, that will have a direct and negative impact on the peaceful enjoyment of our homes. A right we are guarenteed just as much as any homeowner in any neighbourhood, and a right we have perhaps EARNED more than most. Until you have contributed as much to making a neighbourhood safe and secure and suitable for families , children and seniors as we have, I offer the idea that your opinions of what is suitable or good for this neighbourhood have less validity than those who live here. You may well disagree, as is your right. That will not make my thoughts any less valid. No to any variances that contribute to destroying what we have worked so hard for so long to create.
