Petition Against High-Rise Development on Battersea Park Road

We, the undersigned, object to the proposed high-rise developments at Booker Cash & Carry and BMW Car Service Garage, 41-49 and 49-59 Battersea Park Road, London SW8 5AL (Ref: APP/H5960/W/24/3358065).

Key concerns include:

  • Excessive Height - compared with existing properties and far exceeding the area's character.
  • Strain on local infrastructure – Increased traffic, parking issues, and overcrowded pavements and bus stops.
  • Loss of light and privacy – Surrounding buildings will suffer overshadowing and overlooking.
  • Disproportionate land use – Student accommodation prioritised over much-needed housing.

We call on the planning department to reject this proposal in favour of a development that better serves the community.

The developers think they can bulldoze our neighborhood for profit while ignoring the massive strain this project will put on our streets. I am sick of these corporations treating our homes like empty space to be exploited and I will not let them win without a fight.

This proposal does not consider existing residents and will block light and cause unnecessary pressure on local services. There is no requirement in this area for more student flats and this space should be used instead to provide housing for Wandsworth residents.

As a social worker in Wandsworth, I feel this doesn't accommodate for social care needs. I strongly oppose

The proposed development would completely ruin my apartment and block most if not all natural light from entering. The developers have given no regard for the current buildings and residents. Not to mention student accommodation is not part of the housing directive for home building and would add further strain to a small street (Sleaford) with transient residents.

Área is already overcrowded, we could have green area instead. This development will be detrimental to physical and mental health

This development would completely rob me of all sunlight and make my flat a dark cave. The height is excessive and it would completely overshadow Viridian Apartments.
