Bellingham is in desperate need of WWU's support. As a community the last two months has been our biggest challenge yet. We have a lot of hardship, fear, and loss. One of our biggest losses is the lack of entertainment and connection. So many of us have fond memories of the old Samish drive in. It brought excitement, anticipation and joy to many. What we ask is your blessing to hold a community gathering, where we can all practice social distancing and restore the connection we all desperately need. Admission will be donated to local businesses, who have been hard hit by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The momentum generated here demonstrates a clear demand for this community space. I am currently drafting a formal proposal to university leadership based on these signatures and our proposed safety protocols. Expect an update once I secure a meeting time with the administration.

It seems like a no brainer these days with technology, they would be able to use our smart phones instead of the speakers they used to use. All you need is a screen, a fence a concession stand, some toilets and the ticket box.

Please let your parking lot be used on weekends for a dual purpose so the community can come together and watch movies and let some local food trucks stay afloat.
