I love the old theater. The ideas shown in the paper about tearing it down sound ridiculous! The front facade is not the only part needed. Without the interior the front of the building is useless! Please save the entire theater.
keep all 4 walls, keep the roof, keep the weather and the mosquitos out of our theatre. Restore the original floor plan including the two rented store fronts on each side of the main level and use the rented store fronts to subsidize the rest of the work.
I was a resident from 1962 through 2000 When I was was growing up I remember going to the theater in downtown West Bend. The remember the upper balcony. I use to admire how it looked inside. I would hate to see the theater replaced with something different. Please don't destroy a landmark.
As a theatre lover and Victorian home restorer, I understand both the community importance and financial commitment a project like this requires. This cannot be done without community support and lots of it!
In visiting West Bend this summer, I was absolutely enchanted by the historic downtown strip and thought that the theater was really the icing on the cake. You have such a lovely town, and to defile it by removing one of the most eyecatching buildings would seem almost criminal!
Absolutely this historic building needs to be renovated and preserved for the community. It is a jewel and could be the cultural hub of West Bend.
Good luck. I am behind you 100%. We do not need another park, especially one that has to be terraced because of the slope. But --- one could sit in the park, look at the river, look at another bridge, look at another park. Isn't that exciting??? And all that would be free. P.S. If you need an usherette, call me. I know the territory. Worked there when I was in high school. I will check the temp. which was 1 of my duties. LOL Peggy

I would love to see this theater refurbished and made into an old-time theater like the Rivoli in Cedarburg and show older movies and charge a lesser price than the regular cinimas. Love this building. Please save it! Downtown would just not be downtown without that beautiful building and the big sign.
