The council finally agreed to lower the speed limit to 20 mph throughout our village. Seeing those new signs go up will be such a relief for everyone who worries about the safety of our children walking to school each morning.

We are campaigning for Somerset County Council to reduce the speed limit to 20 mph along Church Road & Wild Oak Lane in Trull.
The number of cars using the roads in Trull has increased over the last few years and with the current speed limit of 30 mph in place it has led to a compromise in safety on what is a busy pedestrian route, especially when children are arriving and leaving school, or crossing the road to visit Church.
The majority of schools in Taunton and the surrounding areas already have a 20 mph zone in place for the safety of the children, yet our School in Trull does not.
Please help us to change this by signing this petition.

Seeing one hundred people sign this gives me so much hope that my neighbors want safer streets for our children as much as I do. It feels surreal to hit this milestone when I think about how dangerous the walk to school has become.

As elderly people with mobility problems, crossing Church Road and accessing the village car park is sometimes hazardous because of the speed and unawareness of drivers. We strongly support the petition.
This needs to be done before someone gets hurt, there are no pavements or crossings around the school so a 20mph limit should be a must. In my opinion there should also be a crossing by the shop and near Amberd Lane as lot's of children cross there to get the bus to Castle.
I don't live in Trull anymore, however, for the safety of our children, this should be a 20 m/h zone. My daughter nearly lost her foot once be a large vehicle being in too much of a hurry when she was on her way home from school.
This is a reasonable change to ensure the safety of children, their families and staff at Trull school. It is in line with changes made at other schools including queens who also have the benefit of footpaths and a zebra crossing.
I have two children and we cycle/walk to school along Wild Oak Lane every day. I have witnessed some appalling driving, both speeding and general lack of consideration to cyclists/walkers. I would strongly support both an enforcement of a speed limit as well as other traffic calming measures in this area.
I live nearby and would be happy to observe a 20mph limit.
I was surprised to learn that the speed limit outside the school had not already been reduced to 20mph and that is a matter that needs to be rectified urgently.

We moved to Trull in 1974 when the road was quiet and safe for my children to walk alone. I now fear for the safety of anyone walking in Church Road , the elderly are also particularly vulnerable. Please 20mph!!
