Austwick is a busy little village with school children, cyclists, walkers, horse riders, cars, sheep, tractors, cats, dogs and the villagers young and old going about their day.
Most of the village roads are narrowed by parked cars belonging to residents and visitors plus sections of the road are narrower in places. But this does nothing to slow down the traffic.
On a daily basis someone will mention to me how fast the traffic is through the village and how they dread the day WHEN an accident happens.
I would rather not wait until that day, especially when it could include one of our loved ones.
This is where you guys all come in!!
I am looking to get the speed limit from 30mph down to 20mph and I hope that you will all be willing to help me by signing this petition.
It will then be forwarded to North Yorkshire County Council with a request for a speed assessment.

The volume of support has now reached a level that warrants formal engagement with the North Yorkshire County Council. I am drafting a letter to present these signatures and request an immediate speed assessment for our village roads.

Sadly it is not only visitors that think it is a version of "High Noon" or "Brands Hatch".
I used to live in this beautiful village.....the traffic flow has become horrendous and is way too fast. This small rural community has a very good school too and deserves a safer speed limit
Definitely an accident waiting to happen.

Please reduce this limit to 20 mph before its too late. I have seen the consequences of a child being hit at 30mph and I would hate to see it again. Please take this seriously.
