The school administration finally folded and backed down on their demand for a single color. We forced them to respect our traditions and our money. Keep your eyes open because we are not letting them pull an stunt like this again.

Oceanside High School seniors at graduation have traditionally been offered the choice of two colors to wear at graduation. This school year, The Class of 2020, has been told they can only have one color for all the graduates for their caps & gowns, although the Seniors are paying out of their own pockets. Please sign the petition reinstating two robe colors at graduation events for the Oceanside High School’s Class of 2020.

The Oceanside High School administration is still ignoring us and acting like our hard-earned money gives them full control over our traditions. We are the ones paying for these gowns and we deserve the choice we have always had. Keep the pressure on these bureaucrats until they stop this nonsense.

Let them wear different colors. I switched to medomak senior year and hated the single color gowns. it doesn’t look good.

The senior class should have the option to decide what color they can have for their caps and gowns. They pay for them, not the school. Although it may make the process easier, you need to take the time to think about the kids graduating and how they'll look back on it. Are they gonna remember it as the night they all finally made it? Or are they going to look back and remember not being able to make a simple choice of color for themselves?

My daughter graduates from Oceanside next year and if I have to pay out of pocket for the robe you best bet that my kid better get a choice!

During my senior year, 2016-2017, they tried doing the same because ONE student wanted it. In the end we were allowed to have the option of 2 colors - dark blue and white. FIX THIS, Oceanside. The seniors deserve the choice. One color for all of the graduates looks monotonous and boring.

We’ve had two colors for decades. I’m a 1988 graduate of GVHS and believe that tradition should continue.

If this is done so no one is offended, like changing Mr. Oceanside to Captain Oceanside, chances are, similarly, no one was offended in the first place. Whoever pays has the right to choose what they’re getting in return for their money.
