As of 2019, the gowns for graduation are now red with a white ‘collar’ for both male and female students. The quality is completely different, and the principal (from what was heard at the school board meeting yesterday) made this decision with only the guidance of the student government, who did a micro scale poll (results were 51/49 with only 162 views), and a completely different new option than the one that was actually chosen. They made this decision without giving the rest of the student body a chance to truly state how they felt about it. We want to change it back to the traditional red for those who feel they are male, and white for those who feel they are female gowns, and keep a tradition going at PME that has been around for years

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HAS BEEN GIVING INPUT ON THE SITUATION. YOU GUYS ARE THE ONES MAKING THIS HAPPEN.

Potential SOLUTION *THIS HAS BEEN ADDED TO OFFER A SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM AT HAND. IF YOU DISAGREE, WRITE A COMMENT AND LET ME KNOW*
This should not even be a topic about gender. Instead of changing it for everyone, allow those who feel they do not conform to the traditional method of males and females to simply pick a color. If others want to carry on the tradition, they make that decision when choosing the colored gowns. This way, no one will feel singled out, and everyone will be satisfied. We can keep the red and the white, and the number of red to white will not drastically change, so the presentation of the overall ceremony will still be a beautiful, memorable moment.

SIGNING ON TO THIS PETITION DOES NOT MEAN YOU HAVE TO AGREE WITH THE SOLUTION: IT IS ONE OF MANY OPTIONS THAT CAN BE IMPLEMENTED. SIGNING ON MEANS YOU AGREE WITH CHANGING THE GOWNS BACK TO THEIR TRADITIONAL COLORS: RED AND WHITE.

Reaching five hundred signatures would demonstrate that this tradition holds deep significance for our community. A final push now could provide the momentum required to bring our proposal directly to the administration for a formal review.

The momentum behind this request confirms that students value the traditions of our school and seek a collaborative process for future decisions. It is clear that the community desires an outcome that respects student history while honoring individual choice.

Tradition should not be changed. My daughter proudly.wore her white gown and I was hoping for my son to wear his red one as tradition same as his father and uncle.did in previous years. Very sad tradition has to change for a handful.

The red and white striped pattern on the field is the focal point of graduation. This senior class had to conform to the new format of senior portraits recently with no individuality, don’t make them change their gowns too.

Tradition should NOT change for a handful of individuals. Please allow those who do not want to wear one or the other, choose the color gown they want to wear--- and allow the rest of the class to wear the gowns their siblings and even some parents proudly wore, generation after generation.

Why didn’t the school board ask for ALL student feedback for such a big decision?? BECAUSE THEY DO NOT CARE. I hope everyone who signed voted on Tuesday to remove them from the board.

Some of us have already purchased gowns and have had pictures taken for their graduates this year. Please vote on any changes for the next upcoming graduating class.

The uniforms are not what the class of 2020 voted on. Even when our student representatives openly complained about the design there has still be no change. It is blatant that this town is a cheap way of ripping off students.

This is ridiculous, keep the tradition.
