Overcharged Electricity bills in BCM
To whom it may concern
We are filling this petition in our dark households with no electricity .
Since the beginning of lockdown in 2020 on the 23rd of March , No one from the BCM meter reading team came to do meter reading till today . But as BCM residents we have experienced abnormal charges in water and electricity bills of which we fail to understand how did it happen .
Even residents who fall under Indigent (Sassa beneficiaries and unemployed people) are also suffering from this madness of BCM accounts .
This blockage of Electricity shows clear that Buffalo City Municipality does not value it's residents and exploiting them to highest level of disgust.
As BCM residents we demand these following .
*How did we end up with these ridiculous bills charged in our accounts after we have not seen anyone from meter reading team coming to our homes in the last 10months.
*We demand this madness and exploitation of residents to be dealt with .
*We demand reading of meters 1st before we being charged ridiculous amounts .
*We demand BCM to clear all the Water and Electricity bills charged to it's residents from the 1st of January 2021 .
*We also demand further investigation to be conducted against BCM Accounts employees including the company responsible for Maintainance of Water and Electricity.
We are kindly request the Mayor and the staff of BCM accounts to respond to us as Residents no later than the Friday the 29 of January 2021 .
Or we will be forced to take the streets because we cannot live in darkness because of negligence of BCM Accounts employees .
At the end of the day we are voters and we have right to running water and electricity.
