The pharmacists and pharmacy technicians at New York-Presbyterian Hospital are more important now than ever before. We assist with the careful preparation of medications and IVs every day, in addition to other departmental responsibilities. We have proven to be an indispensable asset to the hospital as we have effectively passed numerous state and federal inspections, and we work tirelessly to improve and enhance the hospital pharmacy field. Without the addition of our tremendous work, it would be hard for New York-Presbyterian to have become, and to remain, as the #1 hospital in New York City, #1 hospital in the state, and #8 medical center in the nation.

However, it has been long over do since we have had a local salary increase negotiation for pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and other pharmacy personnel. The pharmacists and pharmacy technicians that make up this excellent team are among the lowest paid employees compared to staff holding similar positions at other notable hospitals and medical centers. Because of this, our employer’s wage retaining power is consistently eroding in comparison to other hospitals. While our pay has remained stagnant, pharmacy departments and their management at other hospitals have managed to sit down, negotiate and agree on a salary increase city-wide and within the League of Voluntary Hospital. It seems that our request for basic salary increases have fallen upon deaf ears.

BASICALLY: CURRENT SALARIES DO NOT COINCIDE WITH PRESENT DAY INFLATION!! IT IS TIME FOR A CHANGE!!

We strongly believe that Pharmacy Management, pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, and other pharmacy personnel should immediately arrange a meeting with VP and Apothocary-In-Chief Patrice Dupart, Site Director Vickie Powell, and 1199SEIU Contract Administrator Martha Reyes as soon as possible to further discuss and resolve this disparity. Please stand with us as we work hard to continue providing exemplary service at a pay structure to match our colleagues in the field.

"The increase will help us and our families by giving us the opportunity to save a little more to accomplish our financial goals and dreams"
