Introduction:
In the last 5 years, the Ghana Health Service has not recruited Pharmacists to serve the good people of Ghana. We, the undersigned, call for immediate action to address the critical shortage of pharmacists in hospitals across the region. Medication errors are a leading cause of patient harm, and without trained pharmacists to oversee medication safety, lives are at risk.
The Problem:
Many hospitals lack sufficient pharmacists, leaving an abundance of medications unmanaged by experts. Pharmacists play a vital role in preventing errors, ensuring proper dosages, and safeguarding patient well-being. This gap in care endangers public health and undermines the trust we place in our healthcare system.
Our Demand:
We urge hospital administrators, healthcare policymakers, and government officials to:
1. Prioritize the hiring and retention of trained pharmacists.
2. Allocate resources to address staffing shortages immediately.
3. Implement policies to ensure every hospital has adequate pharmacist oversight.

Healthcare is incomplete without pharmaceutical care. It is unethical and legally wrong to allow non qualified , non trained personnel handle medicine while trained, qualified personnel sit at home. Hire Pharmacists and Pharm. Technicians Now!
Every drug is a poison, the dose determines if it cures or it kills. Without pharmacists to screen prescriptions and intervene, a lot of patients are dying without knowing. Pharmacists are the ONLY experts on Medicines.
The Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Health, and Ghana Health Service must prioritize pharmacist recruitment and integration into national health planning. Empowering public sector pharmacists is not just a workforce issue—it is a healthcare quality imperative.
I am a pharmacist of over 8years post qualification. I have been in the Hospital setting for over 5years and yet not fully employed. I am currently working at Accra Psychiatric Hospital as a temporary staff. Employ Pharmacist Now!

The essence of are overlooked more especially in the ward until one of our own passed on at the ignorance of a doctor prescription. No one to cross check to draw his attention to a common mistake no pharmacist will make.
