This petition serves to oppose the opening of a live performance venue at 275 Park Ave.
275 Park Performance Venue LLC is seeking to operate a 200 capacity venue that will be home to Laffaholics Comedy Club, as well as amplified live and recorded music, food, and liquor.
The proprietors intend to hold multiple events per evening and operate daily until 2AM, bringing up to 600 people and their respective cars and / or ride shares to an already congested and dangerous intersection. Previous nightlife venues in the neighborhood have had a severely negative impact on the neighborhood due to multiple instances of gun and knife violence, disorderly conduct, congregating in large groups under the BQE, public urination / defecation, public sex, excessive noise, traffic accidents, and vandalism.
This history - coupled with concerns about crowd control, traffic, parking and public safety - lead us to believe the proposed venue will seriously disrupt the quality of life for members of the community, tenants of the building, and neighboring small businesses.
We look forward to welcoming and supporting a new meaningful business to the area. However, we believe this particular business is not a positive addition to the community and should not be granted the requisite permits and liquor license.

ive been talking to a bunch of neighbors this week and the consensus is clear that no one wants 2am noise and traffic on our street. im currently putting together a package of our concerns to send over to the local board so they cant say they werent warned.

im honestly blown away by how many people are stepping up to protect our neighborhood. this energy proves that we arent going to let this venue compromise the safety and peace of our streets.

When there was a bar called the Chocolate Factory Bar on the Waverly Avenue side of the building, there were loads of problems with fights and noise And the capacity for that place was only 50 people. I shudder to think what a venue with a 220 person capacity will do.
Parking for homeowners and residents is already at capacity. Not to mention the daily influx of added traffic and over spill from the Navy Yard, businesses along Park and Flushing ave's and the number of schools between myrtle and Flushing, between blocks Washington and Clinton.
Children live in this building who don’t need to experience or hear noise, vandalism, drunkenness, disorderly conduct at 2am when they have school the following day. We chose this building because it is away from the crowds and quiet! Please reconsider the nightlife venue.
Could not be a worse choice of real estate for a venue like this, no parking on the corner of a bus stop and citibike stand so no good way to drop people off and no parking garages near by nor subways also in a residential building- why?
This club will be a blight on the neighborhood. The operators have intentionally, knowingly misled residents, community boards, and city agencies on multiple occasions in an effort to get their permits and licenses. They are not to be trusted.
Live right above it and not sound proofed
Exactly! It's an absolute nightmare these days and a live performance venue open until midnight every night, two AM on weekends, isn't going to help matters. To say nothing about the increase in trash.

I believe the owners of 275 Park Avenue are trying to increase the value of this building; a nightclub, which effectively is what is being proposed, will have the opposite effect. I’m alarmed at the prospect.
