As a member of the community, I oppose a new liquor license at 87 Second Avenue (at the corner of Fifth Street) by the Trim Castle Corp, on the grounds that though the prospective operator claims the establishment will be a restaurant/pub, he wants to close his kitchen at midnight, remaining open through the early hours of the morning as a bar. The hours that the operation intends to only pour alcohol and the operator's past experience as a bar operator indicates the operation's intentions are to operate primarily as a liquor establishment. There are numerous full liquor serving establishments in close proximity, with five on Fifth Street alone, and I oppose another one at 87 Second Avenue.

(NOTE: This petition should be signed by tenants in the immediate area of the proposed bar at 5th Street and Second Avenue. YOUR ADDRESS IS NEEDED! PLEASE INCLUDE IT! If you are not from the area we sure appreciate your support, but your signature is not needed.)

Updates

April 6, 2011

The local support has reached a level that allows us to formally request a hearing with the community board. I am currently finalizing our written testimony for the upcoming submission. We will now shift focus toward documenting the specific zoning concerns regarding hours of operation.

Five bars on one street is plenty. Stop trying to turn our block into a frat party zone.

87 2nd Ave is a terrible spot for a bar. The noise levels are already out of control here. Please keep the neighborhood residential.

The kitchen closing at midnight basically says it all. This isnt a restaurant its just another loud bar. Not on our street.
