The Blue Ridge City Council is planning to implement a 2-3 hour parking limit on all downtown Blue Ridge parking spaces. The implications of limiting parking in Blue Ridge are huge, the least of which is a huge negative impact on tourism. The drop-in tourism greatly impacts many other industries in our community, such as downtown business revenue, real estate sales and revenue from taxes to just name a few. We need a strategy for downtown parking that includes more parking spaces, transportation and mobility, and wayfinding signs. We want the City Council to NOT implement the 2-3 hour parking limit until a comprehensive plan has been created.

I was just walking down Main Street and thinking how empty these shops would look if people actually had to bolt after two hours. It honestly feels like the council is staring at a blank wall instead of looking at the actual streets where we live and work and honestly I am just typing this while drinking lukewarm coffee because the amount of emails I have received from business owners about this is honestly overwhelming.

We visit Blue Ridge each year. We love the town and the surrounding areas. The focus should be on better parking/more parking - not limiting the time spent in Blue Ridge. This hurts the city, the business owners, and those visiting this beautiful town.
I cannot believe this is even being taken seriously as an option. A parking limit would kill downtown...locals already avoid the area, why would City Council want to push tourists away, too?! (Former resident and downtown worker)
We've already seen a reduction in parking spaces with the new East Main St renovation. Limiting parking is only going to further erode the parking situation for visitors. Where is a rider of the train to park? I'd like to know how you all think this would be an improvement.
Doris & Bert Thompson, we DO NOT want 2-3 hour parking in Blue Ridge. This would stop people from coming to Blue Ridge and stop local people from shopping downtown. Where would the employees park that work downtown?
It will hurt business downtown. For those that use the Art Center and take all day workshops, it will be a disaster. I am not a citizen but spend a lot of time in Blue Ridge at the Art Center and many other businesses

I am opposed to regulation downtown Parking. As a 5 year employee of MULTITUDES many folks day tripping Train riding or shopping and dining APPRECIATE the casual atmosphere Along Main Street. I would suggest Having a routine shuttle bus pick up Visitors at the far end of town Drop visitors at children park. And PICK UP at main and hall st back to The large parking deck run every 30 Minutes. Shopkeepers can pay Got a small advertisement inside The bus. Thank you

When I visit from Atlanta I spend several hours shopping and having a leisurely lunch or dinner. I don't want to have to watch the clock and be rushed. That's the whole point of visiting a place with a slower pace than Atlanta!
