This is a petition for the New parking Rates for the city of Lock Haven, PA. We the people of Lock Haven protest the parking rates of the meter parking and permit parking. This is a 400% increase on meters along with a 100% increase for permits. If every business would increase there rates 400% they would be out of business. I believe this would hurt the businesses in our area as well as the residents of this town. As stated by the Lock Haven Express there is no Justification for this increase. They are driving businesses and residents away from downtown Lock Haven. Some businesses were complaining that people were parking to long in front of there stores and this is the justification that they came up with. To make up for this City Council has decided to increase all of downtown parking including the permits and parking lots to hurt the residents and other businesses of this town. I believe that the rates should stay the same for the metered parking in the lots and the permits. If anything they should change Main street parking to limited amount of time during business hours to help traffic flow. Please sign this petition if you want the parking and permit rates in the downtown Lock Haven to stay the same.

Seeing the count climb this high confirms that I am not the only one feeling the weight of these unnecessary charges. It has been a long and draining road but knowing so many of you agree keeps me moving forward.

Feeding the parking meter is burdensome in a country where most don't even carry cash because Dr/Cr cards are so convenient. I would like to see the financial statistics on this one, has meter revenue been so profitable to justify this increase. I think it's a deterrent. Please reconsider.
Parking fees and tickets were outrageous whenever I lived in Lock Haven. Don't make them even worse. Cheap/Free parking means that there will be more people utilizing those businesses. Don't let beautiful Downtown Lock Haven die by increasing the parking prices 4-fold.
I work downtown and have to pay the meter for an 8 hour shift out of my pocket! For them to increase the cost is crazy!
As a new small business owner in downtown I can tell you this is going to hurt businesses and their employees the most. It's Lock Haven, not State College. Profit margins are not that large!
I am 75 years old on fixed income can hardly pay bills now & baby sit & park in city parking lot. It would cost me $4 a day! I will not shop in Lock Haven from now on will only go to Walmart, Kmart & restaurants in that vicinity.
Stop stop ripping us off. We barely have enough to live as it is!
Hard to fill the store fronts without customers who refuse to pay outrageous parking fees

If this increase continues, no one will want to support and shop at the local stores in Downtown Lock Haven. They will be too worried about their time running out on the meter and having to pay a $20.00-$25.00 ticket.. That's outrageous.
